Perth is the perfect destination for setting out on foot along the many bush walks and bush hiking trails, from the urban trails within Perth’s Kings Park to scenic and challenging tracks in the Perth Hills and Peel Region. Kings Park Bushland Nature Trail

Duration: 25-minute loop

This leisurely hiking trail offers a unique encounter with Western Australia's famous wildflowers, trees and birdlife in their natural environment. Marking the entry of the trail is an open mia mia structure, with a mosaic depicting the Menzies Banksia. Suitable for most groups including families and people with disabilities.

Kings Park Law Walk

Duration: 45 minutes | Distance: 2.5km

The Kings Park Law Walk is an urban bush walk which provides visitors with scenic views of the Swan River and a unique insight into biodiversity along the Mount Eliza escarpment.

Sunset Coast

Yanchep Ghost House Walk Trail

Duration: Full day | Distance: 12.4km

Yanchep’s Ghost House Walk Trail takes you on a journey to discover the natural and cultural history of the wilderness areas in Yanchep National Park, an hour north of Perth. Encounter pristine wetlands and haunting landmarks along this full-day hiking track.

Rottnest Island

Wadjemup Bidi

A series of walk trails that will take you across spectacular coastal headlands, past stunning inland lakes and encounter both natural and man-made attractions. This hiking trail stretches 45 kilometres and is made up of 5 sections that all present a culturally and environmentally significant experience. Find out more here.

Peel Region & Rockingham 

The King Jarrah Track, Dwellingup

Duration: Half day | Distance: 18km

An enjoyable 18km loop hiking trail that takes you through a spectacular forest teeming with a mixture of jarrah and banksia trees and brings you to the majestic King Jarrah Tree. The walk climbs quickly from the Nanga Mill campground offering good views of the valley below and then continues along the ridge.

Chuditch Walk Trail, Dwellingup

Duration: 1-3 hours | Distance: 6-9km

Starting at either Chuditch or Nanga Mill campgrounds, the majority of this delightful 6-9 km hiking trail is on wide tracks with gentle gradients. Immerse yourself in nature throughout the bush walk, encountering exciting wildlife including Scarlet Robins and Red-winged Fairy Wrens and Red-tailed Black Cockatoos.

Island Poole Walk Trail, Dwellingup

Duration: Less than 1 hour | Distance: 2km

This 2.1 km nature walk leads up the side of the Murray River valley and provides superb views of the valley and the river below. This hiking trail is especially popular during the springtime when native wildflowers are in full bloom.

Heathlands Trail, Waroona

Duration: 1-3 hours | Distance: 4.3km

The Heathlands Nature Walk explores the many different vegetation types of Yargolup National Park. Beginning at Preston Beach Road, the trail is well signposted and best during late winter and spring.

Lake Pollard Walk Trail, Waroona

Duration: 1-3 hours | Distance: 6km

Famous for its high numbers of black swans between October and March, the Lake Pollard Walk Trail begins at the entrance to Martins Tank campground on Preston Beach Road. This hiking trail is the perfect nature walk for outdoorsy types and is well sign-posted along the whole way.

Mundlimup Timber Trails, Jarrahdale

Duration: Less than 1 hour | Distance: 3km

This 2.5 – 3.5 km hiking trail is situated 55km south of Perth via Jarrahdale Road and Balmoral Road and features a history of logging and silviculture, passing through a fine example of jarrah forest. Starting from the Mundimup Recreation Site, the trail crosses the bridge over the old railway formation to a small dieback-infected area. It then continues through old sawpit area, where walkers can see evidence of old logging operations.

Heritage Railway Walk Trail, Jarrahdale

Duration: 1-3 hours | Distance: 9.8km

This nature trail follows the old railway line built in 1872. Starting at Nettleton Road in Jarrahdale, the Heritage Railway Walk Trail is a leisurely walk through Jarrah and Wandoo woodlands and undulating farmland. There are endless wildflowers to enjoy when in season and the views are magnificent.

Baldwins Bluff Nature Trail, Serpentine

Duration: 1-3 hours | Distance: 6km

Located in the Serpentine National Park, just 50km south east of Perth is the spectacular Baldwins Bluff nature walk. Baldwins Bluff is a large granite outcrop on a north-facing part of the Darling Scape and at 180m gives amazing views. Walkers pass through areas of redgum and wandoo forest on the ascent and the trail features a variety of plant and bird species and scenic views.

Baldivis Children's Forest

The Baldivis Children’s Forest provides plenty of opportunity to immerse your young one’s in nature with a unique public reserve of 49 and contains tuart woodlands and a conservation category wetland. Local students have played a key role in establishing plants indigenous to the area, providing a safe habitat for animal, reptile and bird species.

Swan Valley

Bells Rapids River Walk Trail

Distance: 2.5km - 3km | Time: 45 minutes - 1.5 hours | Difficulty: Moderate

Known for having some of the best viewpoints for the Avon Descent event, this picturesque walk along the Swan River offers stunning views of unblemished coastal plains. Catch native grey kangaroos bounding across the countryside and immerse yourself in the best nature has on offer in Perth. Noble Falls Walk Trail

Distance: 3.5km | Time: 45 minutes | Difficulty: Easy

Located just 20 minutes from the Swan Valley in Gidgegannup, this delightful walking trail is located along the Wooroloo Brook. No matter the time of year, the area is always lovely to walk through, with wildflowers blooming in the spring and the glistening waterfall in full swing during the winter. Wandoo Heights Walking Trail

Distance: 2km - 3.5km | Time: 30 minutes - 1 hour | Difficulty: Moderate

Walk among the wildflowers to reach breathtaking panoramic views of the Swan Coastal Plain. With stretches of pristine natural bushland, this walking trail is best explored from mid-autumn to late spring so you can take full advantage of seeing the diverse plant life, including Kangaroo Paw, Cat’s Paw, Bull Banksia, Sundews and more. Find out more.

Distance: Werriliyup Trail 2.5km, Goo Lorto Trail 3km, Wungunga Trail 4.3km

Covering close to 4000 hectares of spectacular bushland, Whiteman Park is a thriving conservation and recreation reserve home to three interpretive hikes and bushwalking trails. The Kep Track

Distance 75km | Difficulty Easy

Follow this multi-use track by foot, bike or on horse-back. The Kep Track is aligned to the Golden Pipeline Drive Trail which spans from Mundaring Weir to WA’s Eastern Goldfields. There are a number of access points and trail heads to get you exploring. The Kep Track hiking trail passes through Mundaring, Sawyers Valley, Mount Helena, Wundowie, Bakers Hills and Clackline. Find out more.

The Bibbulmun Track

Distance 1000km from Perth to Albany | Start Kalamunda, north east of Perth

As one of WA’s most iconic walking trails, The Bibbulman Track stretches nearly 1000kms from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany in the South West. Passing through charming towns in the Perth Hills, you can explore historically significant landmarks and immerse yourself in brilliant nature with the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail. Araluen Botanic Garden Walks

Meandering through the spectacular Araluen Botanic Park in Roleystone, you can soak up the beauty of nature with exhilarating views and a variety of plants and wildlife. There are four separate walking trails all delivering their own distinct experiences. Syd's Rapids and Aboriginal Heritage Walk Trails

Distance 6.4km return | Time 3 hours | Difficulty Easy

Learn more about traditional Indigenous culture while getting out into nature with the Syd’s Rapids and Aboriginal Heritage Walking Trails. These trails take you through natural landmarks, including Walyunga National Park and Pool and Boongarup Pool which is popular for rafting and canoeing. Distance 15km loop | Time 5-6 hours | Difficulty Moderate

A bushwalkers delight, this walking trail around John Forrest National Park delivers excellent views of the Swan Coastal Plain as well as the city and coast out in the distance. Lesmurdie Falls Bush Walk

Distance 2km | Time 1-2 hours | Difficulty Moderate

Located in Lesmurdie Falls National Park, this walk allows you to get up close and personal with the lush vegetation of the region and enjoy the glistening waterfalls along the Darling Range escarpment. The Mount Dale Walk Trail

Distance 2.5km | Time 1-2 hours | Difficulty Moderate

Trailing the contours of Mount Dale all the way to its peak, walkers are treated to impressive panoramic views of the Darling Ranges at the top. Macora Walk Trail, Byford Hills

Distance 2.7km (loop) | Time 30-40 minutes | Difficulty Easy

This short bush walk through Byford Hills is the perfect opportunity to take a stroll amongst WA’s remarkable flora. From marri trees and grass tress to myrtles, wattles and fringe lilies, nature fully surrounds you.
